Well….here comes the much awaited movie of the year”Orange” for all Mega fans who have been so desperate to watch it on big screens since a while now.. At last “Orange” is released today(26th November) and left everyone to their amusement that, what orange is exactly belongs to….and what orange actually contain? You gotta watch the movie to know what’s Orange is all about. Director Bhaskar is known for his lighter vein romantic and emotional way of dealing the subjects. Even in Orange, he tried his best to showcase his talent in dealing such subjects…But one would feel that he failed to deliver the goods, and has not lived up to the expectations of many, who claims to be hardcore cherry fans. Though the response from the theater audience is ok at the moment, its interesting to see how good Cherry’s magic works and “Orange” ends up with all smiles finally.
No doubts that “Orange” has got excellent performance by Ramcharan himself, Genelia and Shajan Padamsee’s glamor, Brahmanandam’s timely comedy,Harris Jayaraj’s touching music to its credit…lets see how good all these worked at the end of the day…!
What’s all about Orange:
Jaanu (Genelia) is a girl who is desperately waits to fall in love. She will be in search of a true soul mate who can take care of her lifelong loving her genuinely. Ram(Ramcharan) is a graffiti artiste who lives with his own ideologies. He strongly believes that, the intensity in love decreases as the years pass on.He comes to a conclusion that its better to love some one for sometime but not too longer. Once he happens to see Jaanu and falls for her at his first sight. He finally makes her love with his character and typical attitude. But,the problem arises when Jaanu asks Ram that she needs his love for lifetime. Ram doesn’t accept the proposal. With all these dramatic situations, where does this love story heads and whether Ram and Jannu’s love life sustains… forms the rest of the story.
Who did how?
It was a challenging task for Cheryy to hold the image back that he has got from his magnum opus “Magadheera” and at the same time he had the big responsibility to deliver an equivalent hit or a bigger than his last flick. With Orange, Ramcharan has gone for a different look and body language and he has successfully achieved it. In Orange Ram Charan tried to woo the urban crowds and youngsters. He is simply rocking in this movie. His costumes, hairstyle and gadgets are sure going to become a rage among the college goers in coming days. Cherry’s fresh and energetic looks make fans go crazy. But in regards Dances, its a bit disappointment that one wouldn’t enjoy the dances in “Orange” as there are hardly any typical steps were composed . This time cherry sticks to simple movements which aptly suits the music. Cherry has sone fairly well in the emotional scenes but needs to improve a lot when it comes to comedy scenes. he has given his best in the climax sequences.
Genelia is as lively as ever….but one might get irked due to over liveliness at some point….especially in her introduction scenes. Compared to “Bommarillu”, director Bhasker failed to extract the stuff from Gennie in terms of expressions and dialogue delivery.
Shazahn Padamsee has good looks and has done a decent job, though there wasn’t much to showcase her talent in terms of acting. .
Brahmanandam’s comedy as Puppy is good in few scenes…but look monotonous in most of the scenes. Avasarala Srinivas(Ashta Chemma fame) excelled in a tiny role called Pushkar. Nagababu is standard. Prakash Raj’s caliber as an actor has been literally wasted as there was nothing to perform in a police officer’s role.anyone could do that role…why Prakash Raj…no one understands it.Prabhu has given a neat contribution as Genelia’s father. Producer Nagababu’s role is also good. Even, Vennela Kishore’s fresh comic image hasn’t been taken any advantage and was limited to few dialogues which actually didn’t make any difference at all.
Manjula and Sanjay Swaroop has done their best .
Technical Aspects:
Till Orange’s audio was released, there was a rumor under speculation that all movies for which Harris has composed his music didn’t fare well and Orange would also fall in that same category. But once the audio was released…all the six songs in “Orange” were proved to be an instant hits and are top in the charts till date. Abosolutely, no doubts that Harris Jayraj’s soulful music is one of the biggest assets for the film. He is successfull in making the audience stay glued to the seats with his touching music and background scores. you the man!
Both the Cinematographers Rajasekhar and Kiran have done an excellent work i. Undoubtedly…”There is never a film in Telugu that has explored the richness and grandeur of the foreign locations than Orange. Dialog credited to Surendra Krishna and Thota Prasad is good in most of the scenes. There are few dialogues like “Nijamayina prema naaku nijam to dorakatledu…abaddham to undatledu”…”Kaaranalato vidipovachu kaani…kaaranalato migilipokudadu” type of dialogues at the climax are making audience clap.
Editing could have been a bit sharp and crispier ,particularly in the second half.
Last but not the least, Bhaskar has proved himself again..that…what he is best at… His thought process and ideas are definitely different from others. He tries to make a film out of human feelings and emotions. But this time…that emotional play didn’t work out to the fullest. He needs to be appreciated for taking up such a tupical subject and a kind of a confusing screenplay. However, he should not try to ‘teach’ with every film. Audience should feel the pinch themselves by watching someone’s story on the screen. They shouldn’t be pinched by the director or repeatedly preached about the goodness in life. His story and concept are nice and praiseworthy. If some visuals of “Bachna Ye Hasino”run in your mind while peeling Orange, if not watching….,don’t be amused because the main theme of “Orange” is a straight lift from the mentioned Bollywood flick,or inspired by …in other words. But thanks to Bhaskar’s brilliance as he has managed fairly well and made it sure that not many get this doubt. he managed first half of the story well ,but a lagging second half irks the audience and a train fight suddenly jumps inbetween which is definitely not required at all. And a confusing climax leaves a negative impression on common audience minds for sure.
Positive Factors:
Definitely Music
Dialogues
Cherry’s fresh look and his dynamic performance.
Negative Shades:
Lagging screen play in the second half.
Weak Interval Bang.
Boring Pre Climax and a Confused climax.
Pre-Final Say: Orange that has no sufficient pulp….but can give you a spoon of juice to your satisfaction in terms of Ramcharan’s one man show through out the movie, other than technical aspects.
Final Verdict:
A definite watch for Mega fans for the sake of Ramcharan’s brilliant performance. And a one time watch for the rest of the audience ,that too for those who never mind about the treatment of the subject and a weak climax.
