53-year-old Li Hua Ying has had her
own career before she married until today, and to her freedom is crucial
for a woman as she would look great with a good mood.
She admitted that she had wanted to become leader and had been
enjoying a lot of freedom since she was young.
She said she was a very open-minded person, and this character of her
had made her a popular figure as people would easily be convinced by
her.
Li used to be appointed as the class monitor or representative of her
school when she was young, as she was one of the most active students
in class. She was also a recognised leader among her friends, and would
be consulted whenever they got into trouble.
Li was the chairman of women's wing of Penang Hakka Association for
three years, and her members had wanted her to serve continually as they
saw her as a truly competent leader.
She said even though she liked to lead people, she was by no means
dictatorial.
Being a straightforward person, Li loves to listen to different views
so long as they are sincere and genuine. She is willing to learn from
other people in order to become even wiser in the future.
Tolerance
She tries not to be jealous of other people as she thinks jealousy
would make her appear ugly and silly. Instead, she said women should be
humble as they would grow faster by learning from other people and
improving on their own weaknesses.
She admitted that she used to be ill-tempered when young. She later
discovered that a tolerant woman looked more appealing than an
intolerant one, and therefore decided to try hard to get rid of her bad
temper. Surprisingly she found that she had gained a better mood and
complexion as well since then.
Special sense for beautiful things
Li has had a special sense for beautiful things since she was a
little girl. Although she came from a poor family, she liked to design
pretty dresses for dolls and her biggest dream was to engage herself in
the fashion industry.
She said a woman required nice clothes and good temperament to show
her beauty. With 26 years of experience in the fashion industry, Li
reminds women to avoid wearing garish and colourful clothes, and should
instead put on simple, elegant clothes especially when they get older.
Importance of good temperament
Being a leader, she likes to share and help people.
She said a woman with a good faith was the most beautiful woman. She
completely understands that a good temperament has a higher value than a
pretty face and it needs time and practice for a woman to show a good
temperament.
Treat yourself well
According to her, from the aspect of appearance, women who have
reached a certain age must try hard to maintain their shape and
complexion. Her secrets include good sleep and cheerful moods.
She urges women to treat themselves well in order to be happy and
contented
Apart from that, women should also set up their own goals and learn
how to let go at difficult times, adding that they should not give up
easily but must fight to the very end.
Having her personal time
She pointed out that having different kinds of friends was necessary
for her as she could learn from their strengths and remind herself not
to repeat their mistakes.
She is grateful to have an understanding husband who allows her to
have her own personal time and space.
In return, she has tried to be an understanding mother to her
children by allowing them a lot of freedom. Her children think that
